1. Compare two locations

Try the same device near the router and in the problem area. If both are slow, the internet connection or router may need attention. If only the distant location is slow, local coverage may be the issue.

2. Check router placement

Keep the router in an open, central location where practical. Walls, metal and enclosed cabinets can weaken the signal. Follow the manufacturer’s restart instructions before changing settings.

3. Choose equipment for the property

A mesh system or additional access point may help indoor coverage. Separate buildings may need an outdoor wireless bridge or professionally installed cabling. Distance, obstacles, equipment and installation determine results; there is no guaranteed coverage distance.

4. Keep the network maintained

Use official router updates and a strong Wi-Fi password. Record current settings before making changes. Ask for a site assessment before buying equipment for a barn, shop or large property.
